Patsy's RNY didn't happen
I am sorry to report that when Dr. LaPort opened Patsy up for her RNY, he found a huge hernia with her intestines somehow all caught up in it. He patched it, but also found spots on her liver that have to be biopsied. So he cloded her up (and it wasn't laproscopic) without performing the RNY. So Patsy is okay, but feeling very down.
If anyone knows of anyone else who had something like this happen, please let me know, so I can pass along what it might all mean. In the meantime, send good vibes and wishes and prayers her way.
I don't know how long she will be in the hospital She just got back to her room a half an hour ago. I will keep you posted.
Thanks for being there for her,
Nancy

Oh my gosh! I am so sorry to hear about Patsy's condition. Please let her know that I am sending good thoughts and lots of prayers to her. I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason, and the reason may or may not be revealed to us. Who knows what could have happened if the hernia had continued to go undetected. I am praying that the spots on the liver, that are to be biopsied, are benign. When she is ready, please let her know that I am here if she needs anything or just an ear to bend.
Thank you Nancy for keeping us up to date about Patsy. You are a wonderful friend/angel. Please give her a hug from me.
Hugs, love, & friendship,

Please tell Patsy I'm thinking about her and praying for her. My husband had Dr. LePorte for his surgeon and I have no doubt he is doing what he feels is in her best interest right now. Having said that though, I know the disappointment of waking up and finding out the surgery couldn't be done must be so difficult. My heart is breaking for her. Please give her a hug for me. Keep us posted please.
When I had my RNY the surgeon saw a small growth on my liver...He still did the surgery. He removed the growth, had it biopsied. It was nothing...But I'm glad he was looking around while he was doing the RNY. All doctors first requirement is to DO NO HARN!! I'm sure he felt if he continuted there could be complications down the road. Most WLS surgeons have praticed general surgery for years before proceeding to WLS. He really is looking out for her best interest...she needs to know that...but we understand how frustrating it can be.
Holy crap, I am so sorry to hear this, but I am sure that the doctors knows what is best for her. With a hernia with the intestines around it, could have caused her great grief. I am glad that they found this all out now and the intestines didn't get blocked off. I have a really bad liver and there are lots of things that could be wrong, so tell her not to think the worst. I have little cyst type things over my liver and even tho I told the doctor about it, he still freaked out when he saw my liver. Tell her the stress of worrying is not worth it, and just to relax and wait for the results.
She has all my prayers and good wishes. I will pray that everything gets back in order and they can proceed with her surgery another date. Give her a hug for me.
Thanks for keeping us updated. Hugs 2 u 2, Diane
